The dam was built in 1973 over the Pentaschoinos River at an altitude of about 400 metres and has a capacity of 13.9 million cubical metes. It is a very beautiful environment and there are some good hiking areas which also make it the ideal area for mountain biking and exploring. The mountain peak called Jionia is visible in the horizon. The fish in the lake include carp, roach and sea bass.
