From the 1st of January 2007, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra of Cyprus has been transformed into an independent institute which has taken over the management and operation of the two Orchestras in Nicosia (State Orchestra of Cyprus, State Orchestra of Cyprus Youth). The ministry of Education and Culture takes part in the Management Board of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra of Cyprus with ex members of it. The president of the Board was also the General Manager of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
