Cyprus in August is a different island from Cyprus in January. On average across 2021–2025, the busiest month brought 7.2 times as many visitors as the quietest.
That gap is the single most useful thing to know when planning a trip. It drives room prices, how full the beaches are, whether you need to book a restaurant, and how long the queue is at Aphrodite’s Rock.

The three Cyprus seasons
Peak
July, August, September, October
Everything is open, everything is full, and everything costs the most. Book early or take what is left.
Shoulder
April, May, June
Warm enough for the beach without the peak crowds or the peak prices. For most visitors this is the sweet spot.
Quiet
January, February, March, November, December
Cheap, mild and largely local. Some resort hotels close, but the cities, the mountains and the archaeology are all still there.
The shoulder season people get wrong
September and October are usually recommended as the quiet way to see Cyprus. The arrivals data does not support that. September averages 464,014 against August’s 488,265 — only 5% fewer — and October still holds 443,078, 9% below August. They are peak months in all but name.
The months that are genuinely warm and genuinely quieter sit on the other side of summer. April runs 42% below August and May 29% below, and both are comfortably beach weather. If you want the island without the crowds, late spring is the better answer than early autumn.
November is where the season actually ends: arrivals fall to 174,591, roughly 61% below October.

Once you have a month, where visitors stay will help you pick a base, and the cost page sets out what people actually spend.
