Cyprus received 4,534,073 visitors in 2025 — more than at any point since records on this basis began in 2002, and roughly 1.9 times the 2002 figure of 2,418,233.
The line is not smooth. Two events are visible in the figures below without any commentary needed: the 2013 banking crisis, and 2020.

Reading the dips
2013. The banking crisis and the deposit levy hit bookings from the markets that mattered most at the time. Recovery took two years.
2020. Arrivals fell by roughly 84% against 2019 as borders closed. On this data the recovery took until 2023 to pass the old normal, and 2025 to set a record.
The pattern underneath. Cyprus has grown its visitor numbers through every shock of the past two decades. What has changed most is not how many people come, but where they come from — which is the subject of the next page.
