Cyprus

Cyprus is a Mediterranean island nation located in the northeastern part of the sea. It is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean, after Sardinia and Sicily, with a land area of 9,241 km² and a population exceeding 1.1 million people.

Cyprus history

Cyprus has always been an important island in the Mediterranean sea as many civilizations have tried to conquer it. Cyprus history can be traced all the way back to the Mycenaeans , the Phoenicians , Egyptians , Assyrians and Persians. Over the years it was also sought by the Romans and Richard the Lion heart on his way to the crusades.

Cyprus boasts a Mediterranean climate, offering over 300 days of sunshine each year. Summers are long, hot, and dry, typically spanning from May to October, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F). Winters, from December to February, are mild and short, with temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C (50°F). Spring and autumn provide pleasant, moderate weather, ideal for outdoor activities. This favorable climate makes Cyprus a year-round destination, perfect for beach vacations, hiking, and exploring the island’s rich history and culture.

Cyprus Beaches

Cyprus is well known for its beautiful coasts with sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Each city on the island has its own beauty and displays a small piece of paradise. From Paphos to Larnaca the coast is filled with hundreds of beaches for you to experience.

Cyprus airports

Cyprus originally had its main airport in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus. However due to the 1974 war, the airport was occupied by the Turks. Therefore two new airports had to be constructed in order to cater for the people.

Cyprus Churches & Chapels

The principle religion in Cyprus is Orthodoxy and the biggest part of Cyprus population (around 78% of the total population) belong to the Greek Orthodox Church of Cyprus.

The Turkish – Cypriots (18%) are Muslim. There are also other minorities such as the Maronites and the Armenian Apostolics, Jewish and Roman Catholics which make up about 4%.

Cyprus has many villages in its four cities, Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. According to the area, the village will have a different climate, scene, activities and attractions.
