Waterparks

Cyprus has the beaches, but there are days — usually with children involved — when a beach is not the answer. The island keeps three large waterparks and a handful of smaller hotel ones, and between them they are among the most reliable wet-weather-proof days out here. This site documents 7 waterparks, listed by district further down the page.

The three big ones

WaterWorld at Ayia Napa is the largest and best known. It opened in 1996, is built throughout to an ancient Greek theme, and has taken more than 25 international awards for its service and quality. Fasouri Watermania in the Limassol district followed in 1999, built with some care for the surrounding environment, and Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark sits on the main coastal road in Kato Paphos, which makes it the easiest of the three to reach without a car.

The hotel waterparks

Four smaller parks sit inside hotels, and the important distinction is whether they let in non-residents. Anastasia Aquamania at Pernera in Protaras is small but has seven slides, a lazy river and pools, and Aqua Splash at the King Evelthon in Paphos is likewise open to visitors as well as guests. Aqua Sol in the Coral Bay area and the Louis Phaethon Beach park are for hotel guests only.

Prices below are those recorded for each park on this site. Waterparks change their pricing between seasons and between years, so treat these as a guide and check before travelling — and note that the big three usually discount late-afternoon entry.

Practical notes

The season runs broadly from spring to autumn and the parks close over winter. Go early: the queues for the headline slides build through the morning and the middle of the day in July and August is both the busiest and the hottest part of it. Most parks allow you to bring water but not food, hire towels and lockers on site, and require children under a certain height to be accompanied on the larger slides.
