The Water Museum is situated in the Old water pumping station, next to the Water Council Offices in the Limassol district. The Old water pumping station was restored and a modern building was built in order to create the Water Museum. The building has also been declared as a historical building by the Department of town planning and housing.

The Old water pumping station was built in 1925 and was used in order to pump large quantities of water from ground near the Garyllis River. Then the water was transferred to the water tower through pipes, in order to cover the water supply for the Limassol district. The water transfer system was innovative for Cyprus as well as the whole surrounding area.

The Water Museum presents permanent exhibition items that are related with water. The Department of Antiquities has allocated important archaeological display items while the visitor has the opportunity to see a number of rare objects and instruments which were used for pumping, measuring cleaning as well as other activities relevant with water.

The various theme sections are supported by rich photographic material as well as a short movie which is presented on the Museum screens, where the importance of the water element is highlighted, for Cyprus as well as Limassol.
