Achaios shipwreck was once the ship called Mav Achaios and it was built in 1932 by A/S.

The ship was under the ownership of the company Akarnania Μaritime Co. and was travelling on its voyage from Yugoslavia towards Jeddah in South Africa near the red sea and was filled with wood.

Suddenly a great storm broke out and the ship ran aground on the Akrotiri Peninsula until it eventually sunk. All the passengers were saved.

Due to its small depth of about 7 metres a part of the ship juts the surface causing awe to the visitors and reminding that the sea does not forgive.
