The local archaeological museum of Marion-Arsinoe is located in the municipality of Polis Chrysochous in the Paphos district about 40 kilometres north of the Paphos town. The museum is built in a neoclassic rhythm, and was inaugurated in 1998. It was built in order to house movable findings which come from the ancient city and the necropolis of Marion which was renamed to Arsinoe during the 3rd century B.C in honour of the sister and wife of Ptolemaist B’ Philadelphos. The constriction of the museum was financed by both the public as well as the private sector.

In Room I which was named Nikos Shiakolas room in honour of the private financer, there are items in chronological order in order to represent the historical development of the town of Marion-Arsinoe and the surrounding area, from the Neolithic period until the medieval era.

Room II includes an excellent collection of findings which come from the rich necropolis of the area. The presentation of the artefacts is done with a location expert.

The local archaeological museum of Marion-Arsinoe , in combination with the neighbouring Community Centre which was completed in 2002 , form a powerful axis which will refresh the community and development of Polis Chrysochous and the regional area.
