The Vrysi ton Pegiotisson is an attractive construction which became connected with the arcitecture as well as the tradition in the Peyia village in Paphos.

This fountain is a real jewel for the village and was built in 1970 in the same position as an older one, by the builder Achilleas Konstantinou. The fountain becomes even more worthy if one consideres that it was the only source of drinking water in the whole community of Peyia until 1956. This was also the main reason that the community increased around the fountain.

As with all village fountains, the young girls in the village would meet up there to catch up with their friends or to meet their loved ones. The particular fountain in Peyia was the reason that a great love was formed and then a song was made for the young ones who were trapped in the love net.

The poem was originally made known through the Paphos newspaper in 1938. Later on the poem was made into a song and was is well known in Cyprus.
